Tokyo Sodai Gomi Fees
Language: Japanese, English, Korean
The problem
When you move in Tokyo, oversized items such as beds and sofas (sodai gomi) cost a different fee in each ward and for each item, and you buy a separate sticker for them. The ward fee tables list items in Japanese only.
What it does
Search 1,303 item fees across four wards (Chiyoda, Chuo, Minato and Bunkyo) in one box, then add up a moving-out list to get the total and the stickers you need.
Who it is for
People in those four wards who are moving or clearing out large items, and residents who do not read Japanese item names easily.
Good to know
Fees come from the open data each ward publishes in the Tokyo Open Data Catalog (CC BY 4.0). Only wards whose data matched the official fee table are listed. Collection is booked with the ward, not on the site.
Everyday Korean calculations such as international age, D-day counts and days between dates change by a day or a year depending on the counting rule, and many calculators do not say which rule they use.
What it does
Calculators for Korean international age, D-day, dates, percentages, pyeong to square metres, military discharge date and ratios, plus Korean name romanisation. Each page shows the formula and rule it uses.
Who it is for
Korean speakers who want a quick answer without installing anything, and want to see the rule behind it.
Good to know
Results are for reference. For contracts, filings, military service or passports, check the official guidance of the agency concerned.
When you move out of a rental in Japan, the landlord may bill you for restoration (genjo kaifuku) such as new wallpaper or flooring. The MLIT guideline says your share shrinks as the item gets older, but its useful-life table and worked examples are spread across several documents.
What it does
Enter the move-in and move-out months and each item on the bill. It applies the elapsed-years method of the MLIT guideline on restoration disputes and shows the value left for each row, the estimated tenant share and the total. Add your deposit to see the balance, then print or copy the result.
Who it is for
Tenants in Japan who received a move-out bill and want to check the basis of each charge.
Good to know
Normal wear is not included, and special clauses in your contract can change the result. It is an estimate, not legal advice. Everything is calculated on your device; nothing is sent or stored.
Before applying for Japanese permanent residence or naturalisation, or UK ILR, you need to count the days you spent outside the country over the past 5 to 10 years. Counting passport stamps by hand is error-prone, and a spreadsheet hides assumptions such as whether travel days count.
What it does
Enter or paste your trips and it counts the days outside in the period before your reference date, the longest trip and a total for each year. For Japanese permanent residence it shows the totals next to the guideline revised on 1 October 2026 (a single absence of half a year or more, or two years six months in total); for the UK it checks every 12-month period against the 180-day rule, and it also covers UK Long Residence.
Who it is for
People preparing for Japanese permanent residence or naturalisation, or UK settlement (ILR).
Good to know
Section 6 of the Japanese guideline applies the revision to applications made on or after 1 April 2027; with an earlier reference date the comparison is shown for reference only. Naturalisation has no published day limit, so only days are counted. It does not predict approval and is not legal advice. Dates stay in the tab and are saved in the browser only if you tick the box.
After a day of viewings, homes blur together and each one gets judged on whatever stood out on the day.
What it does
Set your own criteria with an importance from 0 to 5 plus must-haves, score each home 1 to 5 after the visit, and compare up to 20 homes side by side. Anything you did not check is left out, never counted as zero.
Who it is for
People touring homes to buy or rent, and anyone deciding together with a partner or family.
Good to know
No account. Your ledger is saved in this browser's local storage. It does not pull listings or rate neighbourhoods; the only scores are yours.
Many budgeting apps start by asking you to link a bank login or upload your statements.
What it does
Open a CSV or text-based PDF statement you downloaded yourself, confirm how dates, signs and decimals are written, check every row, then see money in and out by month and category. Possible duplicates and transfers are marked, not deleted.
Who it is for
People who want a quick look at their own spending without linking a bank account.
Good to know
No upload: the file is read inside the browser tab and disappears when you close it. Image-only scanned PDFs are refused.
When someone moves in or out partway through a billing period, roommates have to agree on how to count the days, what to do with the fixed fee and who pays the odd cents.
What it does
Type the move-in and move-out dates and the billed period. RoomProrate counts the days, keeps fixed charges apart from usage, shows the daily split and person-days methods side by side, and proves that the shares add up to the bill.
Who it is for
Roommates, lodgers and people subletting a room who split utility bills, and people who manage shared houses.
Good to know
One currency per report, never converted. Names, dates and amounts stay in the browser tab.
At move-out, the photos from the first day suddenly matter, but they are scattered across a camera roll, without notes and with no easy way to show before and after side by side.
What it does
Add a move-in and a move-out photo for each spot in the home, write what you see, and download a side-by-side PDF in A4 or US Letter. Save a backup file at move-in and restore it when you move out.
Who it is for
Tenants moving into or out of a rental.
Good to know
No account and no upload: photos stay on your device. Notes print in any language. It is a personal record, not an inspection or proof of when a photo was taken.
No account, no installOpen the page in a browser and use it. There is no fee.
Your inputs stay on your deviceDates, amounts, statements and photos are processed in the browser. Each tool's privacy policy explains exactly how.
Rules and sources on the pageThe counting rules, the source of any official data and the date it was checked are published next to the results.
Paid for by adsThe sites are funded by Google AdSense. The tool screens of StatementLens, MoveRecord and StayDays, where statements, photos and travel dates are entered, carry no ad code.
Home life has many tasks you do once every few years: the fee for a sofa you are throwing out, the electricity bill in the month a roommate left, the move-in photos you need at move-out.
Installing an app, creating an account or uploading home photos and bank statements to someone else's server is a lot to ask for one afternoon of work.
So each tool does one job in the browser, and shows the rules and sources behind its result so you can check it.
This page exists so that one link on a social profile leads to all eight.
Frequently asked questions
Are all the tools free?
Yes. All eight are free and need no account. They are funded by Google AdSense ads.
Where does the information I enter go?
Each tool processes the dates, amounts, statement files or photos you give it inside your browser and does not send them to a server. Each site's privacy policy has the details.
Can I use the tools outside the US or UK?
Yes. There is no regional restriction. RoomProrate and StatementLens let you choose the currency, and MoveRecord prints notes written in any language.
Can I use the results as an official document?
No. Results are for reference. For anything with legal effect, rely on the official documents and guidance of the agency, landlord or provider concerned.
Why does the Tokyo garbage fee site cover only four wards?
It lists only wards whose published data matched the ward's official fee table when checked. Fees are not shown from data that could not be verified.
Does the Japanese PR comparison in StayDays apply to applications today?
Section 6 of the Immigration Services Agency permanent residence guideline (revised 1 October 2026) says the revision applies to applications made on or after 1 April 2027. StayDays shows the comparison for reference when the reference date is earlier. It counts days and does not judge approval.
Does this directory page collect anything?
There are no input fields here. Visits are counted with cookieless Cloudflare Web Analytics, and Google AdSense ads may use cookies. See the privacy policy.
Where do I report a mistake or a bug?
